Freshly Fried and Uber Eats – Together for a healthier world

Freshly Fried is a multi-stakeholder campaign that aims to work together for a cleaner and healthier world. The key factor is the proper disposal of used cooking oil to prevent this waste material from ending up in nature, sewage systems or – even worse – back into the food cycle where it is a major cause of gastrointestinal cancer, coronary heart disease and heart attacks.

Uber Eats is a key player in this initiative, as this platform can be used to reach a growing number of catering businesses and customers. Another key player is Muenzer Kenya, whose disposal system ensures that used cooking oil is removed from the food cycle and professionally processed into renewable energy. Handing over the CO2 certificate for 2023 is an important step that shows the impact that can be made by working together to achieve a common goal. Together with the Uber Eats network, Muenzer Kenya has collected almost 60,000 kilos of used cooking oil and turned it into renewable energy. This saved almost 173 tons of CO2.

This success represents not only a significant contribution to emission reduction but also to the promotion of the overall health status of the population in Kenya. Together we have managed to remove 60,000 kilograms of used cooking oil from the food cycle, thus taking an important step in the fight against cancer.

The impressive amount of collected used cooking oil in the past year is just one milestone on our journey towards a healthier world. We remain committed to our mission and continue to strive to maximize our potential.

Why not join our Freshly Fried initiative and join forces in the fight against cancer?

The CO2 certificate compellingly documents the results of our joint efforts: 60,000 kilograms of UCO were collected, resulting in a remarkable CO2 reduction of over 170 tons
